A permanent multilateral air cargo-passenger checkpoint across the state border of Russia is opened at the new Platov airport complex (a part of Airports of Regions). The relevant Certificate that confirms the compliance of the checkpoint with the requirements to the construction, equipment, buildings and facilities necessary for the border, customs and other types of control was signed by the Inter-Departmental Commission (IDC) the day before. Today, Rosaviatsiya (The Federal Air Transport Agency) issued an aviation security certificate to confirm the compliance of the Platov International Airport with the requirements to the pre-flight and post-flight screening of passengers, inspection of aircraft, as well as protection of the infrastructure facilities.
- The IDC's certificate confirms that the Platov airport checkpoint is completely ready for international passenger and cargo operations, - said Sergey Krasnov, Executive Director of Rostovaeroinvest. - The aviation security certificate confirms that all processes, facilities and protection equipment meet the requirements of the transport security laws and regulations.
Thus, Platov Airport will start routine operations, including international flights, at 11.00 on 7 December 2017. It should be noted that the design capacity of the Platov airport for international flights makes 480 passengers per hour (departure and for arrival). The international sector is equipped with 24 passport control booths for departure and 25 booths for arrival. Besides, 6 passport control booths for passengers who leave for the countries of the Customs Union (Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan) are installed in the domestic flights lounge. The Platov airport capacity of international flights meets all of the FIFA requirements to the passenger services during the World Cup matches. In June 2018, five matches of the world football championship will take place in Rostov-on-Don.
International flights, which will be first serviced at the Platov airport on 7 December2017, will be carried out by Ural Airlines (to Yerevan), Pobeda Airlines (from Tbilisi) and Russiya Airlines (to Tel Aviv). The winter schedule of the Rostov airport includes 14 international directions, including the CIS countries, Europe and Asia.
