The Rostov-on-Don international airport (“Airports of Regions” holding company) starting from August 10 this year, for the first time in decades, switches to operation without closing for maintenance from 08.30 to 10.30 on weekdays. Removing this procedure will allow aircraft movements to rise due to launching new services and increasing the number of flights to existing destinations.
«These hours are very much in demand with the airlines, as they allow carriers to perform morning flights and deliver passengers to their destinations by early afternoon,» said MC’s Airports of Regions director for development of aviation business Sergei Dotsenko. «Lifting of restrictions on arrivals and departures of aircraft will obviously have a positive impact on the convenience for passengers, because now they will be able to make better use of their time».
As a reminder: every day from Monday to Friday the airport of the capital of the Don was closed for two hours for arrival and departure of the aircraft. From 08.30 to 10.30 the airport carried out additional procedures to maintain the runway and taxiway surfaces. After the reconstruction of the runway which ended in mid-June, it is no longer required.
