The erection of the reinforced concrete frame for the passenger terminal building has begun on the construction site of new Yuzhny Airport (belongs to Airports of Regions Holding Company). The construction workers have already completed the installation of vertical concrete load-bearing structures and lateral elements’ slabs of the longest part of the building - the gallery. The left and right sides of the three-story gallery of the future terminal, which will have the total length of 328 meters, are ready for the next phase – the erection of structural steel followed by roofing. In the final phase, this gallery will be conjoined to nine air bridges through which the passengers will get directly on board an aircraft.
Prior to the installation of the frame for the passenger terminal the builders carried out piling and pouring of the raft foundation. 95% of the main building foundation has been completed. All in all, more than 2900 piles have already been driven in the base of the terminal.
The construction of other premises for the new airport is also in progress. To ensure the operation of the new airport, the erection of a complex of buildings designed to accommodate the airport services is underway.
The main premises under construction:
- an amenity building – the monolithic two-story frame of the building is completed;
- a logistics warehouse - the monolithic frame of the building is completed and roofing is underway;
- a building for the state supervisory bodies - piling and foundation pouring is completed, the installation of the reinforced concrete load-bearing structures is underway;
- an administrative and technological complex – the work on the pile field is underway (90 %completed);
- a GSE warehouse and maintenance shop - the work on the pile field is underway (50 %completed).
800 construction workers and more than 40 vehicles are involved in the erection of the passenger terminal and other infrastructure. All work is performed in accordance with the approved schedule. In addition, designing of the detached VIP terminal and the fuel farm is currently underway.
As a reminder: new Yuzhny Airport will be located not far from Grushevskaya village in the Aksai District. The project envisages the construction of a paved runway 3600 meters in length, a passenger terminal with the area of 50 thousand square meters, its capacity will be 5 million passengers a year.
