The Platov International Airport (member of the Airports of Regions Holding) will for the first time receive Airbus A-330 and Boeing 777 wide-body airplanes during the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Requests for receipt, clearance and servicing of these aircraft were received from several airlines carrying Mexican and Brazilian fans to Rostov-on-Don and the airport acknowledged them.
– The infrastructure of the Platov Airport was developed in particular in order to provide an opportunity for servicing such types of wide-bodied aircraft like Airbus-330 and Boeing B-747 and B-777, – Deputy General Director and Chief Operating Officer of the MC Airport of Regions Denis Bukin says. – Further to construction of a new reinforced concrete runway with the size of 3,600*45 m, reinforced apron coating and wider taxiways enabling safe movement of airplanes with the greater wing span and width of main undercarriage legs, we acquired requisite special vehicles and trained staff in handling these aircraft types. Please note that jets of Airbus A-330 family, Boeing-747 and B-777, with the authorization to receive them included into the Certificate of State Registration of the Platov Airport, are currently in service with many largest airlines of the globe. In particular, carriage of passengers by airplanes of this type are made by Aeroflot - Russian Airlines, Rossiya, Nordwind, Turkish Airlines, Czech Airlines, and Onur Air, whose flights are in the schedule of the Platov Airport. Carriers can develop the schedule of regular and charter flights from the new Rostov-on-Don airport in future subject to use of wide-body types of aircraft, which are more beneficial from the economic standpoint. The Platov International Airport is authorized to receive over 30 types of aircraft of domestic and international production along with all types of helicopters and business jets.
