Rostov-on-Don International Airport (belongs to Airports of Regions Holding Company) is authorized to receive the Airbus A321-100/200 aircraft. The appropriate notification has been received from the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya).
Authorization of Rostov Airport to receiving Airbus A321-100/200, for the first time in the history of the airport, has become possible thanks to the reconstruction of the runway, held in April-June 2015. As a reminder: in the course of work on the renewal of the runway the old concrete pavement was replaced with the asphalt having increased strength properties and improved operating characteristics. Runway resurfacing has already made it possible to abandon the daily routine two-hour procedure of airport closing in force at the Rostov Airport in the last few years.
«The possibility to service the new type of aircraft at Rostov-on-Don Airport allows the airlines to expand the capacity on the most popular scheduled flights and charter destinations,» said Oleg Tsepilov, Executive Director of PSC Rostov-on-Don Airport. «The authorization to receive the Airbus A321 type of aircraft is another key element of implementing Airports of Regions Holding’s strategy for improvement of the Don Region aviation infrastructure and for giving the airlines an opportunity to develop their route network from Rostov-on-Don Airport.
For reference: the family of Airbus A321 airliners is currently operated by many airlines in the world.
Rostov-on-Don International Airport is authorized to receive more than 30 types of Russian and foreign aircraft, as well as all types of helicopters and business jets.
