As part of the major renovation of the passenger terminal the Rostov-on-Don international airport («Airports of Regions» holding company) opens one more gate for domestic passengers. With the opening of a new gate the airport has an opportunity to carry out pre-flight inspection and deliver passengers to the aircraft for 2 domestic flights at a time. In addition, the introduction of the second gate to the apron buses will have a positive impact on the comfort and convenience of departing passengers.
Earlier the airport changed passenger flow scheme in the domestic area, the security check was re-located to the second floor, and the capacity of the departure lounge for the passengers increased to 530 seats.
Citizens traveling abroad will soon be able to benefit from the positive changes. Major renovation of the international area is completing, it involves the extension of the waiting lounge for departing passengers and provision of the comfortable area for the welcomers. Also, a special procedure is designed for passengers departing/arriving to/from the countries of the Customs Union. The gate equipped for this purpose, if necessary, can serve as the third gate for domestic flights or the second for international.
In addition to expanding the waiting areas and increasing the number of gates in the near future the airport will open a new catering area, and a new Duty Free shop. Besides, the reconstruction of the landside area and the expansion of the long-term parking are underway.
