The Airports of Regions holding affiliated with Renova Group will daily make more than 3,000 free three-meal rations for senior citizens older than 65, quarantined in their homes because of COVID-19 coronavirus, with Platov airport also participating in this action.
Despite the difficult economic situation in the aviation industry at large and the losses incurred by airports, the holding seeks to make its contribution to the joint effort of fighting the epidemic and overcoming its consequences. The initiative is informed by the aspiration to help the most vulnerable group and will be implemented together with volunteer associations and social security services which will locate specific addressees and ensure the delivery of food kits to them. The action will last at least till April 15 as long as senior citizens are quarantined.
Also participating in the action are the catering services of Koltsovo (Yekaterinburg), Kurumoch (Samara) and Strigino (Nizhny Novgorod) airports. The catering service of Platov airport will daily make rations including breakfast, lunch and dinner for lonely retirees of the Rostov Region. The given group keeping the lockdown regime at their domicile is in need of help more than others, since these people have no loved ones to support them. The rations made by the catering services of the airports might be a significant contribution to ensuring full-fledged hot meals for senior citizens in dire need.
We should remind that given the threat of the new coronavirus infection COVID-19 spreading in Russia, most regions are obliged to ensure the lockdown regime for people older than 65 from late March to April 14. The lockdown regime for such people is to be ensured at their domicile or in other premises including private homes and garden cottages. Social security services are obliged to provide support for quarantined people, should they encounter any problems buying medicines and foods.
