Total disinfection of the passenger terminal to reduce the risk of coronavirus infection spreading in the territory of Rostov Region has been carried out at Platov international airport (part of the Airports of Regions holding).
The military of the Don Rescue Center at Russia’s EMERCOM treated the air gates of the land of Don with special disinfectants at the initiative of Platov airport by way of irrigation. An aerosol of special substances permitted for use in public spaces by the National Consumer Health Watchdog was loosened on all surfaces in boarding bridges, arrivals gallery, baggage claim area, domestic airlines’ waiting area, passenger inspection area, airport’s lounges of general access as well as in the health station, baby care room, elevator lobbies, bus stop and smoking pavilion in the near-airport square as well as in all other functional areas.
Prior to that the frequency of moist mopping clean-ups with disinfectants used had been increased at Platov, whereby all contacting surfaces and furnishings – chairs in waiting lounges, check-in and enquiry counters, boarding gate counters and handrails – are disinfected. Using modern equipment such as portable decontamination kits increases the efficiency of chlorine-containing agents.
We should remind that a number of other measures are taken at Platov airport to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection. The airport’s employees are protected with personal protective gear (FFP masks, gloves, glasses, individual antiseptics). For passengers to keep social distancing special markings are applied on the floor and chairs. Employees of the sanitary-quarantine station at the National Consumer Health Watchdog’s Rostov Region Directorate conduct the thermometry of all arriving passengers.
