Platov international airport (part of the Airports of Regions holding) has been named the best regional airport of Russia and CIS, based on a passenger survey conducted by Skytrax international agency, and has been celebrated today at the World Airport Awards 2020 ceremony held online this year. What’s more, Platov has been recognized as fourth best airport of the world among the airports providing services to less than 5 million travelers a year.
World Airport Awards is one of the most prestigious distinctions in the airport industry, based on passenger surveys and organized by the reputable international agency Skytrax whose headquarters is located in the United Kingdom. The survey was conducted during 6 months at 550 airports across the world. Passengers rated the services by key criteria, including the convenience of check-in, inspection, catering and shopping quality, etc.
Managing Director of Skytrax Edward Plaisted pointed out that being recognized as the best regional airport in Russia and CIS is an outstanding achievement for the management and personnel of Platov international airport. This is particularly important, since this award means appreciation of the airport’s high standards by its customers.
“World Airport Awards is especially valuable for us because this is above all the recognition of our services by passengers. During the coronavirus pandemic this recognition inspires us and gives us hope that after the national borders are reopened and all restrictions are lifted, our passengers will stay with us,” Platov Airport Executive Director Alexander Serov believes.
We should remind that in 2019 Platov international airport was the first Russian airport to be awarded the five-star rating after its audit by Skytrax experts. Koltsovo (Yekaterinburg) and Kurumoch (Samara) international airports also managed by the Airports of Regions holding have the four-star rating of Skytrax, which is thought to be prestigious as well.
