New art items have been opened in the arrivals area of the Platov International Airport (member of the Airports of Regions Holding). A textual installation and exhibition of works by Rostov-on-Don painter Maxim Ilyinov in the Cossack pop-art style complemented the exposition of the Ataman Platov and His Time located in the departure zone of the air harbor.
A textual installation welcomes arrived passengers of Russian and international flights. It represents lines fr om the Don poem by Alexander Pushkin, fixed under the ceiling all over the passage. Letters form a spatial textual composition as progressing from passenger loading bridges to the luggage claim area. First letters of the poem, Through the Steppes, see there he glances! Silent flood glad hailed by me, is a greeting for guests on the Don land, for those for the first time flying to the southern capital, and for those returning back home after parting. It is no coincidence in selecting the poem of the national classic: Alexander Pushkin is the brand of Russia familiar to foreigners on the one part, and the poet close for perception by residents of our country from the other. We would like to add that the installation is made in two languages - Russian and English.
The exhibition of reproduction of pictures by Maxim Ilyinov in the baggage claim area is actually the first personal exhibition of the painter in the home town. Maxim Ilyinov calls the style of creating his canvases the Cossack pop art. A modern interpretation of the Cossack culture is presented in the airport in this sense. Platov is actually and air gate to a modern megalopolis, wh ere traditional items neighbor the advanced ones, complementing each other instead of conflicting and attributing a distinctive image and flavor to the city.
