The project for building a new airport complex -Yuzhny included in the program to support investment projects of the Russian Federation

The project for building a new airport complex - Yuzhny (Rostov-on-Don) implemented by JSC Rostovaeroinvest, is included in the state program to support investment projects of the Russian Federation. The corresponding decision at the end of April 2015 was adopted by the Interagency Investment Commission. It was agreed that JSC Gazprombank would loan JSC Rostovaeroinvest 15.7 billion rubles for the development of the Yuzhny project.

«At today's loan market it is not easy to obtain financing on acceptable terms. Financing is one of the key issues in implementation of such an ambitious and meaningful project as the construction of Yuzhny Airport. Integration of the project in the state program to support investment projects of the Russian Federation will ensure adequate funding and make it possible to start the construction on time,» said MC’s Airports of Regions General Director Evgeniy Chudnovskiy.

Yuzhny Airport is by far the largest infrastructure project of the Rostov Oblast and a key in preparation for the World Cup in 2018. It is planned that the new complex will replace the old airport and open the door for the establishment of a modern central airport hub in the south of Russia with a capacity of up to 8 million passengers per year. “The project is of high importance for the economy as a whole, so, definitely, is a priority for our bank,” said Gazprombank’s Executive Vice President – Head of the Department for project and structured financing Alexey Belous.

Yuzhny International Airport will be built in Aksai District of the Rostov Oblast, 4 km north of Grushevskaya village. The total area of the new passenger terminal will be 50 635 sq. meters. The capacity of the new terminal will amount to 2 thousand passengers per hour. The length of the runway of the new major airport complex, which will become the hub of the south of Russia, will equal to 3 600 meters, that will allow for receiving all types of modern wide-body, medium and long-haul aircraft. The project of Yuzhny Airport is included in the Federal Targeted Program «Development of Transport System of Russian Federation (2010-2020)» and «Program to Prepare for Holding the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia». Commissioning is scheduled for 2017.
